The 64th Annual Meeting of the American Physical Society's Division of Plasma Physics, was held virtually and in person at the Spokane Convention Center in Spokane, Washington from Oct. 17 to 21. Scientists from around the world presented new findings in plasma research, including Dr HUANG Juan from the Institute of Plasma Physics (ASIPP), on behalf of the EAST team.

This is the 10th invited talk received by the EAST/DIII-D Joint Experimental Team from the APS division of plasma physics since 2015.

In the meeting, Dr. HUANG presented an invited talk " Progress on Long-pulse Steady-state High Performance Plasmas on EAST".

A world-record duration of 310s H-mode plasma (H98y2>1.3, ne/nGW>0.6, fBS>50%) has been recently achieved on EAST, according to HUANG Juan. She reported the enhanced technical capabilities, physics key issues and understanding, improved plasma particle and heat load control in a long time scale. Also she pointed out current key challenges and next plans of EAST in support of future fusion reactors

On behalf of EAST/DIII-D joint experimental team, Dr. Huang Juan made another report on "transport and stability in sustained high qmin, high βN discharges on DIII-D", sharing the latest study on DIII-D. In this talk, she analyzed the transport characteristics and instability in detail, and put forwarded a future experiment plan towards the next DIII-D steady state operation milestone.

This annual meeting covered the latest progress in various aspects of plasma physics, including space plasma, inertial confinement plasma, magnetic confinement plasma, etc. 22 topics were included in magnetic confinement plasma field, covering key physics issues, long pulse steady state operation, diagnostic measurement, numerical simulation, plasma control, magnetic confinement devices, future reactor related technologies.
