High production of N-acetylneuraminic acid by Escherichia coli induced by Plasma
N-acetylneuraminic acid (sialic acid, bird's nest acid) is an important new food ingredient which is considered to be a necessary nutritional factor for human health. N-acetylneuraminic acid has the functions of improving infant's intelligence and memory, anti-virus, enhancing immunity and promoting intestinal health. Facing people's life and health, the biological team of Institute of Plasma Physics focused on the biosynthesis technology of functional nutrient and its applications. Relying on the plasma technology derived from EAST device, the biological team has broken through a number of key technical barriers and mastered a large batch of key core technologies after nearly 10 years of painstaking research and development of N-acetylneuraminic acid.
